Opening Mass
The Opening Mass, formally celebrating the opening of WYD08, will be presided over by Cardinal George Pell, with bishops from around the world, followed by Youth Festival events. The Mass will commence at 4.30pm at Barangaroo, followed by Youth Festival events around the city, concluding around 10.00pm. The Opening Mass and welcome concert will be celebrated at Barangaroo, which is the actual Mass location. You can watch the Mass live on screen at a number of other venues in the City listed below. Pre Mass entertainment commences from 3pm, so we recommend you arrive early.
