Randwick Racecourse and Centennial Park are key venues for World Youth Day with about 225,000 people expected at the racecourse on Saturday 19 July for an evening vigil with the Pope, with a further 90,000 expected at Centennial Park. The Final Mass on Sunday 20 July is expected to attract a crowd of 500,000 people across both the racecourse and Centennial Park.

On Friday 18 July there will be changes to local and regional traffic routes, bus routes and parking conditions, continuing until Monday 21 July at 4am.

Road closures that may affect access to/from the Eastern Suburbs include:

• Alison Road between Anzac Parade and Botany Street (from Thursday 17 July at 12 midnight until Monday 21 July at 4am)
• Anzac Parade between Alison Road and Moore Park Road (from Saturday 19 July at 2am until Monday 21 July at 4am)
• Dacey Avenue (eastbound) between South Dowling Street and Anzac Parade
• Cleveland Street between South Dowling Street and Anzac Parade
• South Dowling Street between Cleveland Street and Flinders Street.

A special event parking scheme will be implemented in the Eastern Suburbs, covering Randwick, Centennial Park, Queens Park, Kensington and Kingsford, on Friday 18 July, Saturday 19 July and Sunday 20 July.
