Randwick Racecourse and Centennial Park are key venues for World Youth Day with about 225,000 people expected at the racecourse on Saturday 19 July for an evening vigil with the Pope, with a further 90,000 expected at Centennial Park. The Final Mass on Sunday 20 July is expected to attract a crowd of 500,000 people across both the racecourse and Centennial Park.

On Friday 18 July there will be changes to local and regional traffic routes, bus routes and parking conditions, continuing until Monday 21 July at 4am.

Roads closed include Alison Road between Anzac Parade and Botany Street (Thursday 17 July at 12 midnight until Monday 21 July at 4am), and Anzac Parade between Alison Road and Moore Park Road (Saturday 19 July at 2am until Monday 21 July at 4am). For the full list of road closures and special event clearways, visit the RTA website.

Access into the areas of Alison Road and Wansey Road in Randwick will be managed. The local area access map shows residents how they will be able to access their properties during World Youth Day events.

As a result of these road closures, there will be changes to bus routes operating from Randwick via Alison Road. Information is available via the Eastern Suburbs bus changes webpage. For specific route information, visit the Transport InfoLine website.

A special event parking scheme will be implemented in the Eastern Suburbs, which includes the majority of Randwick, on Friday 18 July, Saturday 19 July and Sunday 20 July. The parking scheme generally covers an area approximately 2km from Randwick Racecourse. Read more about the special event parking scheme.
